The Felting Horror Continues

Well, I think I tried almost everything this weekend I boiled a pot of water and placed the Patons item I knitted into it for a while agitating it while it boiled. Once I was done with that I placed it in a pot of cold water hoping to shock it into felthood....nothing happened, I think only certain colors felt with Patons wool, I had a three color combination winter white, deep olive and paparika. I sure I mentioned that I was particiapting in a knit-a-long with jclane using her own pattern, I think it will work out well.

I really love the Patons yarn and I would love to be able to felt using it but I need a new technique to help me felt it properly. Woh-is-me!

Next; moving right along, I finally got the hang of enchroachments and I was ready to finish my sock off when I came across a large gap on one side of my sock, holy moly; what now? I tell you I must have frogged that one sock at least 6 times but I don't care I am determined to get it right at all costs, I have way too many socks I need to make not just for myself but for select family members and all the little children, which also leads into knitting slippers and felting slippers, I am so excited I can't wait to begin.

I am honing my sock knitting skills so that I will know how to utilize different techniques to use when working the heels of a sock, it is all so fascinating to me. Yesterday I went over to the Ragg Shop for its final days in business in one of the many mini malls up in Middletown N.Y. and I purchased some Landscapes yarn for $1.65 and some Lionbrand Boucle for $1.35 per skein, can you believe it, I couldn't? Now I have to go reorganize the yarn room so that I can convert it back into a bedroom for guess who are visiting, I have about 6 large garbage bags just for the yarn that is in smaller bags on the floor, I will need to purchase some more of the extra large bins, you know the ones you can fit a grown person in, I already have 5 of them, not to mention the smaller ones and all the boxes; I will definitely have to reorganize yet once again. Well I have to go put some fishing line on my reels so that I am prepared for tomorrows trip, that's right I am going fishing in the morning and I can't wait. I will tell you about my catch after I have rested and cleaned them.

Felting Nightmare

I don't know what I am doing wrong, I just finished surfing the net to see if I could find some directions on felting Patons Merino yarn and I did, but it is exactly the technique I used to felt, I think I will just boil the thing to see what the outcome is; I am so excited to felt something and when I finally attempt it, it doesn't work. I will not give up that word is not in my vocabulary. I finally finished the teddy bear sweater it is so cute, I want to block it first before I submit the picture; I showed it to my husband and he was definitely impressed. It really feels good when you finally complete something you were having trouble with; my trouble was with the sleeves and how to put them on then there was the decreasing which I must say now I have a working knowledge of how to do now since I must have taken it apart about 10 times.

I am a great believer in frogging if it doesn't look right, I will do it in a heartbeat. I just finished creating a hank from a pound of the kitchen cotton for dying, can't wait to get started, I will be using the RIT technique mixing some interesting colors to see how it works up once I knit a swatch, what I have in mind for the nice size hank I have created has not come to me yet but it will, it always does. I went on ebay and purchased myself a brand new large wooden swift for the unheard of price of $55, S&H included and I found the yarn ball winder for the incredible price of $8.50 from A.C.Moores. I did pretty well, I will post a photo once I find my charger for my camera.

I think I will take some of the sock hanks I have and actually use it tonight, yep I think I will. I will also post a photo of the kitchen cotton once I take the photo . I will be looking up some information on HTML' so tha I can have a better handle on how to add items to my blog and be more creative, for now I am going to add some more rows on one of the items from my WIP.
